What You'll Create

In this guide, you will use VMAI's Watermark / Logo tool to add a logo, short text label, shape, or sticker to an existing video and download a new MP4 result.

By the end, you will know how to:

  • Upload the video you want to mark.
  • Choose Image / Logo, Text, Shape, or Sticker as the watermark type.
  • Pick one of nine positions and adjust size and opacity.
  • Check placement in the first-frame preview.
  • Review estimated Credits, render, and download the result.
Note This tool requires sign-in. You can open the public page, but uploading files and rendering require an account and Credits.

Before You Start

Requirements

  • A VMAI account.
  • The video file you want to watermark.
  • Optional: a logo image or short text label.
  • A quick list of areas the watermark should not cover: subtitles, faces, product screens, CTA buttons, and so on.

Supported Inputs and Limits

The current verified UI and code support these inputs.

ItemSupported
Video fileMP4, MOV, MKV, WebM
Video sizeUp to 200MB in the current UI
Image / logoPNG, JPEG, WebP
Image sizeUp to 5MB in the current UI
Not accepted for image logoSVG

Watermarking re-encodes the video, so it uses Credits. The current calculation is per started minute, with a minimum of 1 Credit. Before rendering, check the page's Estimated cost and Available Credit values.

Step 1: Open the Watermark / Logo Tool

After signing in, open the Watermark / Logo tool.

The page includes a note that this is a standalone tool. The watermark you add here is chosen by you. Treat it separately from any automatic brand watermark policy that may apply in the main VMAI video generation flow.

Step 2: Upload Your Video

Drag your video into the upload area, or click the area and choose a file.

When upload starts, VMAI reads what it can from the video, such as duration, dimensions, and a first-frame thumbnail. Rendering becomes available only after the upload is complete.

Tip For your first test, use a short 10-20 second clip. It is easier to learn the right size and opacity before rendering a longer video.

Step 3: Choose a Watermark Type

After the video is ready, the watermark input area appears. You can currently choose from four types.

TypeBest UseWhat You Need
Image / LogoBrand logo, channel logo, campaign badgePNG, JPEG, or WebP image
TextShort labels such as DRAFT, REVIEW, or CONFIDENTIALShort text up to 100 characters
ShapeSimple color mark or badge when no logo is readyShape and colors
StickerSimple icons such as star, heart, check, or ideaIcon and color

If you choose Image / Logo, wait until the image upload finishes. The final render cannot start until the uploaded image is ready.

Step 4: Adjust Position, Size, and Opacity

Use the settings panel to control placement.

Position

Position uses a 3x3 grid: top-left, top, top-right, left, center, right, bottom-left, bottom, and bottom-right.

Bottom-right is a good starting point. If your captions are at the bottom or your product UI sits in the bottom-right corner, test a top position first.

Size

Size is based on the video width. Start smaller than you think you need, then increase only until it remains recognizable on mobile.

Opacity

Opacity ranges from 1 to 100. Brand logos should remain legible. Draft or review labels can usually be lighter so they do not distract viewers.

Warning Avoid covering subtitles, faces, price information, buttons, or important product UI. Think beyond the first frame and consider the busiest scenes in the video.

Step 5: Check the First-Frame Preview

The preview shows placement on the first frame of the video. The final render applies the watermark across the whole video.

Check these details before rendering:

  • Is the watermark too large?
  • Does the text or logo stand out from the background?
  • Does it overlap subtitles or product UI?
  • Is the opacity appropriate for the purpose?

If the first frame is not enough to judge the full video, choose a safer position and a more subtle opacity.

Step 6: Check Credits and Render

In the render panel, review Estimated cost and Available Credits. If you do not have enough Credits, the render button may be disabled.

When everything is ready, click Render watermark. The page shows progress while rendering. You may see a warning if you try to leave during processing, so keep the page open until the render finishes.

Step 7: Download and Review the Result

When rendering completes, the completed card provides a download action. The result filename is based on your original video name with a watermark suffix.

After downloading, play the video and check:

  • Does the watermark stay in the intended position throughout the video?
  • Does it remain visible after scene changes without becoming distracting?
  • Does it avoid subtitles, faces, and key product screens?
  • Are logo and text spelling correct?
  • Does it match the publishing channel's guidelines?

Troubleshooting

I see “Please log in to use the Watermark tool”

Sign in and reopen the tool. File upload and rendering require an authenticated account.

My video does not upload

Check that the file is MP4, MOV, MKV, or WebM. If it is larger than the current 200MB UI limit, test with a shorter or compressed version first.

I cannot select my logo file

Check that the logo is PNG, JPEG, or WebP. SVG is not accepted by this tool. Export the logo as PNG or WebP, then upload it again.

The render button is disabled

Make sure both the video upload and watermark input are complete. For Image / Logo, the image upload must finish first. Rendering also requires enough Credits for the estimated cost.

The watermark is too large in the result

Reduce the size and adjust opacity, then render again. For mobile-first video, a small but clear mark is usually safest.

Next Steps

After downloading the watermarked result, continue with another finishing step if needed.

A watermark may look like a one-minute finishing task, but it protects brand recognition and file management across the whole video workflow.
