A still image needs direction before it needs motion
It is easy to make a still image move. Write “slowly zoom in,” and you will usually get something that looks cinematic at first glance. The problem appears when you place the clip in a real edit. The motion may cover captions, push the important object out of frame, or add so much text that the viewer no longer knows where to look.

1. What job should this clip do in the video?
Most motion clips do one of four jobs.

If the job is unclear, the clip may look good but still be hard to place in your timeline. If the job is clear, the prompt becomes sharper: “a 6-second hook that focuses attention on the customer problem, not the logo” is much better than “make this image dynamic.”
2. Should you use a background image or no media?
There are two practical starting points.
- Background image: best when you already have a photo, thumbnail, product image, or slide that should remain visible. Camera movement, zoom, highlight shapes, and text layers do most of the work.
- No media: best when you want a short motion graphic built from background colors, shapes, text, lines, and simple illustrations. This is useful for chapter breaks, number callouts, and concept summaries.
If the image is already strong, do not bury it under extra labels. If there is no real subject to show, do not force a stock image into the clip just to make it feel busy.
3. Are camera motion and annotations competing?
The classic way to animate a still image is camera motion: slow zoom, pan, focus shift, or a Ken Burns-style move. Annotations such as circles, arrows, rectangles, and highlights add explanation.
The mistake is doing both at full intensity. If the camera moves quickly while the arrow also animates, the viewer has to chase two signals at once. A safer rhythm is:
- Let the camera guide attention.
- Slow down or hold when the annotation appears.
- Use one or two annotations, not five.
For product or tutorial clips, the viewer should remember what was emphasized, not how many effects were used.
4. Did you plan text by reading time, not by screen space?
Text is the easiest layer to overuse. A title, subtitle, key sentence, and CTA may all fit on the screen, but they will not fit inside a 5–8 second clip.
Use these rules:
- One message per screen.
- Keep each line short; two lines is usually enough.
- Ask for emphasis on key words only.
- Specify when the text should appear and disappear.
- Avoid large text over a part of the video that already has subtitles.
Korean and English also need different text lengths. Do not translate a motion text layer word for word; rewrite it so each language can be read comfortably.
5. Did you decide duration, resolution, and Credits first?
Short clips are easier to control. A motion clip usually supports a larger video; it should not replace the whole edit. Set the duration before you write the prompt so the AI can distribute the movement properly.
A practical starting point:
- Hook: 4–6 seconds
- Chapter transition: 3–5 seconds
- Product or feature emphasis: 6–10 seconds
- Summary or CTA: 5–8 seconds

6. Can you edit the result after generation?
A useful motion clip is not only a finished file. It is a result you can revise. Write the prompt so the generated work stays separated into clear pieces.

- Camera: slowly move toward the product center.
- Text: show one short title after two seconds.
- Annotation: add one highlight around the button.
- Background audio: add later after the visual timing works.
That structure gives you clear edit requests later: “slow only the camera,” “remove the text,” or “change the highlight color.”
